About the Event

Join Penny Woodward, renowned co-author of 'the ultimate book on tomatoes', for a timely seasonal session on all things heirloom tomatoes.

Please arrive at 9 am for a 9.15 start.

  • A curious consumer of tomatoes, keen to hear the heirloom story and discover their delectable differences.

  • How to grow them successfully in our region – which varieties, what techniques
  • How to prevent, spot and counteract pests and diseases 
  • How to enjoy eating them as much as you love growing them.

About your presenter

Penny Woodward | Author | Broadcaster | Editor 

Penny is a dedicated organic gardener with a degree in botany and zoology. She is the author or co-author of 8 gardening books, including the multi-award winning 'Tomato – know sow grow feast', described by Peter Cundell as,

"The ultimate book on tomatoes, brimming with information based on experience. It covers everything anyone ever needs to know about selecting, growing and using the best and tastiest tomatoes in all districts and climates."

Penny is a patron of the Victorian Herb Society, a member of the Horticultural Media Association and a life member of the Australian Garlic Industry Association.

She was the horticultural editor of ABC's Organic Gardener magazine, their essential guides, calendar, and diary for eight years and a twenty-year contributor of articles and photographs.
